OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) has been awarded a $4 million federal grant to bolster specialty crops in the state, according to an official document. This funding will support 19 projects this year, fostering the growth of Washington’s diverse agricultural landscape.
The grant is pivotal for the state, which boasts over 300 crops, most of which are specialty crops. “All of them I could say are benefiting in some way or another through all the projects that we fund whether it’s research marketing or training education,” Leisa Schumaker, Program Manager of Specialty Crop Block Grant said.
