ST. LOUIS - St. Louis-style pizza is finally being recognized, according to Yelp reviewers.

St. Louis-based Imo's Pizza has been ranked #17 in Yelp's national study of pizza chains across the United States.

Imo's, known for its thin, square-cut slices, was founded in 1964 by Ed and Margie Imo.

The chain has grown significantly since its first location opened in the Shaw neighborhood of South St. Louis. The Yelp study also notes that the average person consumes 288 slices of pizza yearly.

As of 2025, Imo's has over 90 locations across Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. According to the Yelp study, Milwaukee ranks the #1 city for its top pizza chains.
