NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Democrat Abigail Spanberger could have been more forthright, and Republican Winsome Earle-Sears was over agressive, according to Old Dominion University political analyst Dr. Jesse Richman, who graded the two candidates' Thursday evening debate performance.

“I would give Spanberger a B-minus and Earle-Sears a C to C minus," Richman said. "I think Spanberger could have been more forthright, could have answered more directly, more effectively. Earle-Sears overdid the aggression, the interruptions. I think ultimately, it undermined her. The most important task in the debate, which was to effectively connect with Virginia voters, the interruptions got in the way.”
