BILLINGS, Mont. – The Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM), Montana’s largest contemporary art museum, is experiencing financial challenges following a significant funding cut.
In September, Yellowstone County Commissioners voted to reduce the museum's funding by more than $100,000 for the fiscal year. The decision was made to allocate more resources for jail operations once the expansion is complete.
Jessica Ogdin, Executive Director of YAM, discussed the impacts of these cuts. "It's been incredibly difficult for everybody involved. The staff members who are no longer with us were key members of this team," said Ogdin.
Due to the funding reduction, YAM has had to let go of four employees and discontinue several educational programs to maintain operations.
