NEW PHILADELPHIA, OH — The Tuscarawas County Jail will receive more than $208,000 from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to strengthen addiction treatment programs for inmates, part of a broader statewide effort to address opioid use behind bars.

Attorney General Dave Yost announced the third round of funding this week, awarding $2 million in total to 11 county jails across Ohio. The latest grants expand the state’s Opioid Remediation Grant Program to 37 counties and bring total awards since March to more than $5.6 million.

“These grants are supplying the tools and support for addicted inmates to overcome withdrawal, get clean and improve their lives upon release,” Yost said.
