SANTA FE SPRINGS — At the beginning of the season, not too many projected St. Paul and St. Francis to be a combined 0-12 coming into Friday night’s game.

However, the Swordsmen shook off their horrid start to the year with a big 21-16 win over St. Francis to pick up their first win of the season.

“It was ugly, but when you’re 0-6, you’ll take it. We just gotta clean so many things up, we’re undisciplined,” St. Paul coach Mike Moschetti said.

It was a battle between two of the most mobile quarterbacks in the San Gabriel Valley area in St. Paul’s Gabriel Castaneda and St. Francis’ Shawn Sanders. The two combined for over 200 rushing yards.
