NEW ORLEANS — Four people have been killed in New Orleans in the week leading up to Election Day,

Stemley’s final passengers were Tony Benson and his family, who had just exited the car when the attack began.

“Out of the corner of my eye, I see a young man in a black hoodie run up to the open door in the Uber car that was still running,” Benson said. “He jumped into the car, and I yelled. Miguel turned around, ran up to the car trying to get this kid out.”

Benson said the suspect floored the vehicle, crashed about 30 to 40 feet away, and slammed into parked cars before the vehicle went airborne.

“We could see the bottom of the car,” Benson said. “Everyone’s yelling. It was like something out of a movie.”
