After years of playing eccentric, shadowy figures, Robert Pattinson is finding that stepping into the shoes of an ordinary man isn’t as simple as it sounds.

While promoting his upcoming drama Die My Love alongside Jennifer Lawrence, the actor reflected on how shifting from his trademark “freak” roles to something more grounded has been unexpectedly tricky. “At one point, I really wanted to play some normal guys,” Pattinson told People. “And it’s actually kind of difficult to play a normal person when you’re used to playing freaks and stuff.”

Die My Love, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, follows Lawrence’s Grace and Pattinson’s Jackson as they retreat to a remote home in Montana. Grace, a young mother and writer, is shown gradually descending into madness, while Jackson
