There is awful news for pet owners who frequent Petco.
The chain has announced its plans to close locations nationwide as part of a process to revive earnings.
Per Petco’s Quarter 2 earnings report , its year-to-year revenue is down. As a result, the pet giant is looking to close 25 underperforming locations nationwide.
Though the exact locations haven’t been made public, a closure can fall onto any one of their more than 1,300 U.S. locations .
Fortunately, the chain isn’t going anywhere, as the closures should be seen as something done to remove dead weight.
“The first half of this year established a solid foundation for our transformation as we continued to strengthen our economic model and improve retail operating fundamentals,” Petco CEO Joel Anderson mentioned in the report.
