GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Cherry Health has opened a new area inside its Southeast Side Health Center on Kalamazoo Avenue SE in Grand Rapids to help treat patients struggling with substance abuse.
The community recovery center, funded through $500,000 in opioid settlement funds, will offer behavioral health screenings, counseling and therapy and access to community health workers.
The space also will be used to expand Cherry Health’s partnership with Grand Rapids Red Project’s harm reduction services, including its safe syringe program, according to a release. A community closet and pantry, as well as internet service, are available as well.
“We’ve christened this new space as our recovery center, and I think it sends a really hopeful message to our patients and to the community that recover
