She's ultra-private, under the radar and now a buzzy documentary that is expected to unseal the lid on Melania Trump's lowkey life has an official release date.
The film – aptly titled "Melania" – is slated to premiere Jan. 30 next year in theaters and later on Amazon's Prime Video streaming service, a year after her husband President Donald Trump took office for the second time.
"'Melania' offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration – through the eyes of the First Lady-elect herself," an official description said. "Step inside Melania Trump's world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family."
"With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments, 'Melania' showcases Mrs. Trump's return to one of the world's most powerful roles," the logline continued.
Trump is listed as an executive producer of the project, directed by embattled Hollywood industry titan Brett Ratner, which means she is likely to get a cut of the $40 million that Amazon paid in licensing fees.
Ratner's Hollywood return comes after he was first publicly accused of sexual harassment and rape in 2017 by multiple women including actress Olivia Munn.
Melania Trump made rare appearance at White House this week
During her husband's second term, Trump has mainly avoided the limelight.
However, Trump said in a rare address Oct. 10 at The White House that Vladimir Putin's government has agreed to return Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia as minors and have since turned 18.
Trump has held relatively few White House events since her husband returned to office, making her decision to speak out about missing children − who she framed as "residing in" or having been "displaced" to Russia − a notable approach for a publicly avoidant first lady.
Trump said she aimed to facilitate regular reunifications of children with their families until every child is returned home. "As first lady, this is an important initiative for me," Trump said. "It is built on shared purpose and lasting impact."
Although she has kept to a light calendar, Trump has chosen to appear alongside the president at select events, including his second inauguration festivities, a state visit with the British royal family, Fourth of July celebrations, the funeral of Pope Francis, the White House Easter egg roll, a visit to Texas flooding victims and the administration's multimillion-dollar festival and parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
