A turnover in the red zone with the clock winding down put the game out of reach for the McDowell Titans and allowed Alexander Central to hang on for the 30-28 win Friday night

It was the second win of the season for A.C. and the second loss this year for McDowell.

Both teams battled back and forth the whole way. Alexander Central running back Sawyer Chapman-Mayes put the Cougars ahead by two scores late in the fourth quarter with a five-yard touchdown run. He was one of four A.C. players who combined to pick up 322 rushing yards in the game on 51 carries.

McDowell got seven of those points back less than a minute later when running back Jordan Barnett ran one in from three yards out. He had 70 rushing yards on the night. Quarterback Danny Brown picked up 85 rushing yards an
