Special weather statement issued in south and east

SASKATCHEWAN — A special weather statement has been issued for parts of southern and east-central Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada issued the advisory early Oct. 11 due to rain, snow and strong winds that are in the forecast. Regina, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Yorkton, Canora, Kamsack and Preeceville are among the affected communities.

The advisory states a low-pressure system is going to bring rain to parts of southern Saskatchewan beginning Oct. 11. Total accumulations of 30-60 millimetres are possible by the afternoon of Oct. 13.

According to Environment Canada, rain will become mixed with snow on Oct. 12, and some accumulating snow is possible. This system will also bring strong winds gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour to certain areas.
