Plymouth has been named England’s slipperiest city after a study showed it experienced up to 170 wet days a year. This factor, combined annual rainfall statistics, and average winter temperatures saw it top a list of 75 major cities in England.
The study showed that wetter western coastal regions face a significantly higher risk of algae growth, which is the leading cause of slick patios, paths, and pavements. This can lead to a rise in falls and spills which has the potential to cause serious injury.
Patio Black Spot Removal Company released its findings that saw Plymouth receive a risk score of 84 out of 100. Truro and Carlisle were the next cities on the list with slightly lower scores than the leader. According to the company, Residents in Plymouth could face the slipperiest outdoor
