The Detroit-Toronto doubleheader Monday on Canadian Thanksgiving that Detroit sports fans hoped to see didn’t materialize, but the one game with local interest will start sooner.
The NHL announced a 2 p.m. start time for Monday’s game between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena (FanDuel Sports Network), the second half of a home-and-home between the Original Six rivals who meet tonight at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m., FSN).
The game, originally schedule for 4 p.m., was moved ahead to accommodate Game 2 of the American League Championship Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners being held Monday at Rogers Centre (time to be determined).
The Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 in 15 innings Friday in Game 5 of the ALDS.
