DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. —

Indiana State Police say that a Greendale City Council member has been arrested.

Brett Hamilton, 46, is facing five charges that include theft, fraud, money laundering, racketeering and misconduct while in public administration. Advertisement

According to police, Hamilton is alleged to have stolen thousands of dollars from the Dillsboro Civic Club, of which he was president.

The theft by Hamilton is alleged to have begun in 2018, and it continued until his arrest.

He was arrested without incident in Lawrenceburg on Friday afternoon and booked into the Dearborn County Jail.

The Dillsboro Civic Club is located in nearby Dillsboro, Indiana, approximately 12 miles southwest of Greendale.
