DALLAS – Texas scored 23 unanswered points en route to another dominant win over Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The Sooners, led by quarterback John Mateer, who returned from injury, jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter. But it was all Texas from there, as Mateer tossed three interceptions and the Longhorns' defense was dominant in the 23-6 win.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning was efficient in the win, completing 21 of 27 passes for 166 yards with a touchdown, adding 34 yards on the ground on four carries. Running back Quintrevion Wisner rushed for 94 yards on 22 carries.
Texas held Oklahoma without an offensive touchdown for the third time in the last four seasons, all of which have come under Sooners coach Brent Venables. Mateer finished the game 20 of 38 passing with 202 yards and three interceptions, and was sacked five times.

Mateer appears to have a long run into Texas' red zone, however, the play is called back due to holding. Texas then picks off Mateer for the third time on the next play, resulting in Longhorns ball on Oklahoma's 44-yard line.

Texas extends its lead to 13-6 on a 48-yard field goal by Mason Shipley just before the end of the third quarter.
The Longhorns easily won the quarter, outscoring Oklahoma 10-0 and outgaining the Sooners with 143 yards to the Sooners' 26.
Oklahoma goes three-and-out
Mateer nearly throws another interception on two different plays before Oklahoma goes three-and-out on its first possession of the second half.
The Sooners are going to need to find some rhythm offensively soon.

The Longhorns find the end zone first, as Arch Manning hits DeAndre Moore Jr. for a 12-yard touchdown on the first drive of the second half.

Adding to the disastrous scenario for the Sooners is questionable clock management from Brent Venables, who calls a timeout after letting nearly 20 seconds of clock wind down before calling a timeout.

Texas drives to Oklahoma's 3-yard line, but can't punch it in and is held to three points.

Oklahoma starting right tackle Derek Simmons was tripped up and was down on the ground holding his knee after a run play. Simmons, who needed help to walk off to the sideline, is being replaced by third-string offensive tackle Luke Baklenko.
