Jessica Pegula has fought back from 2-5 down in the deciding set to upset world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-4 7-6 (7-2) and set up a Wuhan Open final against fellow American Coco Gauff.
World No.6 Pegula ended Sabalenka's 20-match unbeaten streak at the tournament as the Belarusian missed out on the chance of a fourth straight title after a dramatic finish to Saturday's semi-final.
Pegula broke Sabalenka in the third set when the champ served for the match and then repeated the dose to move 6-5 ahead.
But the American squandered two match points in the next game as Sabalenka levelled, before Pegula then dominated the tiebreak to seal victory after two hours and 20 minutes.
