The U.S. government shutdown is affecting various governmental agencies and departments, such as the Department of Education, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and, of course, the National Park Service (NPS).

Unfortunately, some U.S. national parks had to be closed, yet others managed to reopen thanks to the collaboration of non-profit groups and local governments. But while the U.S. government is now on a shutdown, the same cannot be said for nature.

The Blue Creek Fire forced closures in Zion National Park a few days ago. Now, other parks in California are experiencing something similar.
