OCRACOKE, N.C. (WAVY) -- NC 12 near Ocracoke Island has been closed Saturday afternoon due to heavy ocean overwash from the nor'easter storm, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

The closure spans from the ferry terminal to the National Park Service Pony Pens. There is currently no time frame for when NC 12 will reopen.
