“X-Men ’97” has been renewed for Season 3, it was announced at New York Comic Con on Saturday. Season 2 will release in summer 2026.

A trailer shown in the room to Comic Con attendees showed the return of the evil mutant Apocalypse and the X-Men characters scattered across time. The heroes, like Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Nightcrawler and more, must find their way back to the 1990s after being lost in the past and future.

Season 1 debuted on Disney+ on March 20, 2024, and finished its 10-episode first season on May 15. It continued the storylines from the fan-favorite “X-Men: The Animated Series” from the 1990s, and the revival received positive reviews from critics and fans alike.

The new Disney+ series picked up right when “X-Men: The Animated Series” ended back in 1997.
