LELAND, Miss. (WJTV) - Leland police are investigating after four people were killed and four people were critically injured during a shooting.

According to State Senator Derrick T. Simmons, a total of 20 people were shot on October 10, 2025, which was the night of Leland High School's homecoming game. The shooting occurred in the downtown area of Leland.

The four deceased victims have not been identified. Simmons said the four victims, who were critically injured, were airlifted to a hospital. There's no suspect information at this time.

“People were just congregating and having a good time in the downtown of Leland,” Simmons said. He was told that after the gunfire, the scene was “very chaotic,” as police, sheriff’s deputies and ambulances “responded from all over.”
