CLEVELAND, Ohio — There have been seasons by the Guardians and Indians that couldn’t end soon enough. If the Commissioner had told them to go home on Sept. 1, a brass band would have led them out of town.
The 2025 season was not one of those seasons. If it’s possible for a season that started on March 27 and ended on Oct. 2 to end too soon, this was the one. It was like reading a riveting who-dun-it only to find that last pages, where all would be revealed, had been ripped out by a prankster.
When this season ended, Guardians’ fans weren’t looking for closure, they wanted a two or three-week extension into late October.
