JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown women's soccer team put on a strong performance Friday afternoon at Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium, earning a 4-1 win over Southwest Minnesota State.
The Jimmies opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Vega Canada found the back of the net to give Jamestown an early 1-0 lead.
Jamestown kept the momentum going in the second half as Haley Nelson doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute. Just six minutes later, Kuhela Ledward extended the lead in the 59th minute, assisted by Langley Grow before Hannah Hynek added the fourth goal in the 60th minute off a setup from Nelson.
Southwest Minnesota State got on the board in the 83rd minute with a goal from Laynee Godfrey, assisted by Abigail Schmidt, but the Jimmies held strong defensively to close ou
