GOREVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Two separate crashes on Interstate 24 in Johnson County resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to another early on October 10, 2025.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 10 reported the first incident involved a Freightliner Cascadia and a stationary Honda Civic. ISP said the Freightliner sideswiped the Honda, continued off the road, and struck a Kia Forte and a bridge support. The driver of the Freightliner was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital with injuries.

In the same area, ISP said another incident occurred nearby. State police said a GMC Sierra rear-ended a Freightliner Long Conventional which had slowed due to the initial crash. The driver of the GMC Sierra was also pronounced dead at the
