JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - One person died and another was injured in a crash involving two motorcycles early Saturday morning, October 11.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before 3 a.m. on Dowell Road, near Chammess Road, in rural Dowell.

They say two motorcycles were going westbound on Dowell Road. While one motorcycle passed the other, deputies say either the motorcycles or the drivers came into contact with each other, causing one of the motorcycles to lose control and crash.

The driver was thrown in the crash and died at the scene.

Deputies say another person was injured and taken to an area hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, alcohol impairment appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
