TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa City Council candidate forum spiraled into chaos Thursday evening when a former candidate pulled out his gun.

Former District 5 candidate and pastor Elvis Piggott said he did it during a confrontation from a family member of a current candidate. The forum between candidates Thomas Scott and Naya Young was held at the Tampa Heights Civic Association venue.

"I have nothing, again, to lie about or to prove," Piggott said.

Piggott shared the moments after he pulled out his guns in now-deleted videos shared on Meta, known as Facebook.

He claimed he acted in self-defense for himself and his 2-year-old son during an interaction with a family member of Young.
