Title: Biden Undergoes Radiation and Hormone Therapy for Cancer
Former President Joe Biden is currently receiving radiation and hormone therapy to treat an aggressive form of prostate cancer. This treatment phase was confirmed by a spokesperson on Saturday.
Kelly Scully, an aide to Biden, stated, "As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment."
At 82 years old, Biden left office in January after withdrawing his reelection bid six months prior. His decision followed a challenging debate against Republican Donald Trump, which raised concerns about his age, health, and mental fitness. Trump ultimately won the election against Biden's former vice president, Kamala Harris.
In May, Biden's post-presidential office revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, which had metastasized to his bones. The diagnosis followed reports of urinary symptoms. Prostate cancer is assessed for aggressiveness using a Gleason score, which ranges from 6 to 10. A score of 9 indicates that Biden's cancer is among the most aggressive types.
Additionally, Biden underwent surgery last month to remove skin cancer lesions from his forehead. This ongoing health situation has drawn attention as the former president navigates his treatment while reflecting on his time in office and the challenges he faced during his presidency.
