GREENWOOD, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Officers with the Greenwood Police Department reported they are investigating a shooting that happened near a university.

Police said calls about the shooting came around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, the shooting occurred around West Cambridge Avenue and Durst Avenue West, which is near Lander University. Police said the shooting had nothing to do with the school itself.

Police reported two people have been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers said one person was shot in the upper body while the other was shot in the hand.

Officers said that it appears a group of people were meeting up in the area when the shooting occurred.

Police said the investigation is still in its early stages.
