Hyundai has issued a safety recall for one of its most popular SUV models due to electrical issues that could cause a fire.

Around 135,380 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration .

Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that the main cause of the recall is an electrical fault within the vehicles’ starter motor.

An exposed terminal on the starter motor can come into contact with the cooling fan assembly, which can cause a short. This short can increase the risk of fire in the vehicles.

The recall affects 2024 and 2025 model years of Hyundai’s popular Santa Fe SUV.

Santa Fe owners will be contacted by Hyundai to bring the vehicle into a dealership. Dealers will inspect and reinstall the starter motor terminal
