PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Hundreds of people once again will grab lanterns (and rain jackets) to to Light The Night in Portland on Saturday.
KOIN 6 and Portland's CW are proud to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Oregon and Southwest Washington as they work toward better treatments, new research and a world without blood cancers.
In fact, the nonprofit organization, which has a chapter in the Portland metro area, has changed its name to Blood Cancer United ahead of “Light the Night."
The event begins at Zidell Yards on the South Waterfront at 5 p.m., and includes a touching ceremony plus a lantern walk across Tilikum Crossing.
Their website noted they are about halfway to their $800,000 fundraising goal.
