Three Qatari diplomats were killed in a car crash in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, two security sources told Reuters on Sunday. Two other diplomats were injured in the crash. The accident occurred just a day before the city is set to host a global summit aimed at finalizing an agreement to end the conflict in Gaza.

It is unclear whether the diplomats were part of Qatar’s negotiating team, which, along with Egyptian officials in Sharm El Sheikh, helped broker an initial agreement this week between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan.
