A man died Friday in a work incident at a scrap yard in Westport, Massachusetts.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced Saturday that 49-year-old Mark Peters, of Taunton, was the victim in the work fatality that occurred at Mid City Scrap, located at 548 State Road.

Westport EMS responded to a medical call around 11:10 a.m. Friday at the scrap yard and arrived to find Peters with a crushing injury to his lower extremities, according to officials. Peters was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Westport police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the DA's office, and an OSHA Safety and Health officers all responded to the scene.
