Texas Tech football defensive tackle Skyler Gill-Howard , a starter in every game this season, was carted off the field with his left leg immobilized early in the Red Raiders ' Saturday, Oct. 11, home game against Kansas .

Gill-Howard was back on the Tech sideline in the second quarter with his lower leg in an orthopedic boot, but still walking around in full uniform including pads.

Gill-Howard collided with edge defender Charles Esters III as both pursued Jayhawks quarterback Jalon Daniels on a run play up the middle. The play occurred less than three minutes into the game, on the first series.

After being attended to by the Tech medical staff, Gill-Howard was lifted onto a cart and taken to the Dustin R. Womble Football Center.
