66-year-old Bartonville man arrested for alleged sex crimes against a child

PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A child’s disclosure has led to the arrest of a Bartonville man on accusations he sexually molested the minor.

Joseph Braun, 66, was arrested Wednesday after a joint investigation by Peoria and Bartonville Police.

In a release, investigators said the child told a “trusted adult” that an older male known to the family began sexually assaulting her about five years ago.

Police said they interviewed Braun in Bartonville, then booked him for predatory criminal sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a child.

Braun is being held in the Peoria County Jail, but online records do not indicate when he’ll appear in court.

The release said police are not releasing more information because of the alleged victim’s age and the “sensitive nature” of the investigation.
