1CUMBERLAND, MD – Officers with the Cumberland Police Department arrested a woman in connection with a reported burglary on Thursday. Authorities responded to a home in the 300 block of E. Offutt St. after the residents found an unknown female sleeping in an upstairs bedroom.

The homeowners contacted police after discovering the suspect. They claimed she had no permission to be in the residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the suspect, identified as Jamie Elaine Pierce, 45, of Cumberland.

Pierce claimed she had received permission from another person to be in the home. Following the investigation, police took her into custody.

Pierce was later presented before a District Court Commissioner for her initial appearance. Afterward, she was released on her own recognizance.
