ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Can picking up trash be fun? A new twist in community cleanup, the "Dash for the Trash," says yes.

On Saturday, participants were invited to walk and jog along the Bosque and compete for who could pick up the most trash while also competing for who could do it the fastest.

Along the way, a large amount of litter and other debris was gathered to be hauled away by the Albuquerque Solid Waste Management Department, who along with Keep Albuquerque Beautiful organized the event.

Winners in both categories won prizes from local businesses and organizations including the Guild Cinema, Hinkle Family Fun Center, New Mexico Beef Jerky Co., the city Parks & Recreation Department, Raising Cane's and Stone Age Climbing Gym.
