ODESSA, Texas — When life collides with loss, you never think the last time will truly be the last time.
For Yvette Hernandez and her family, that truth hit home in October 2024, when her son-in-law, Alex Bingham, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on his own front porch. Nearly a year later, the pain is still fresh.
“I think we’re still really numb,” Hernandez said. “We just think he’s at work and expect that he’s going to come in the door. I don’t think any of us have actually sat still long enough to accept that he’s really gone. We still have a trial coming, so I don’t think reality has set in.”
