A coffee shop located inside of the Royal BC Museum has been forced to shut down after suffering record low sales due to the ongoing BCGEU strike.
Owner of 2% Jazz Coffee Sam Jones knew the moment the strike started, the likely-hood of his 10 years inside of the museum was numbered.
“The numbers just automatically dropped […] I realized I wasn’t going to make, it was the first pay period came and I was scrambling, and I don’t usually scramble to make pay periods,” said Jones at his shop, packing up the remaining boxes before leaving for good.
Jones told CHEK News that when the union went on strike, although they are being polite to the public, unfortunately Jones says members are actively repelling the very customers that he needs to keep his business afloat.
