LSU Police Department officers are investigating after two people were wounded in a shooting Saturday night near campus.

East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services confirmed it transported two people to a hospital. The condition of the wounded was not available at the time.

Following the shooting near Highland Road and Dalrymple Drive, the school announced in a campus wide alert about 8:40 p.m., asking students to avoid the area.

The police department sent out another alert about 20 minutes later and said it was still investigating and that Highland Road is currently closed from Dalrymple to State Street.

LSU Police said to continue to avoid the area and monitor emergency texts and emails for additional updates.
