Former Union Minister P. Chidambaram said, 'Operation Blue Star, launched in June 1984 to flush out militants from the Golden Temple in Amritsar, was a 'wrong approach'. The then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi paid the price for this mistake with her life. However, this decision was not solely Indira Gandhi's.'
This is the second major statement on Operation Blue Star in the last 6 months. Earlier, on May 4, a video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi went viral. In it, he was seen saying that the 1984 Operation Blue Star was a mistake. I am ready to take responsibility for whatever mistakes the Congress made in the 80s.
