Plans for 10 homes on the edge of a village have attracted scores of objections fearing "chaos and misery". Proposals for the dwellings north of Mill Lane, in Shepherdswell, were first submitted to Dover District Council (DDC) in 2023.

In a revision to the plans later that year, the developer Guildcrest Homes reduced the number to nine, seeking to address issues raised with overlooking neighbouring properties. However, in March of this year, the plans were altered again with a redesign proposing 10 houses, drawing further ire from residents, who have lodged 53 objections since the plans first surfaced.

"Another really bad idea," wrote Jane Punton in September. "The village does not have the infrastructure for more dwellings.
