The NHS is calling on people to take one simple action that will see their health improve in as little as eight hours. The health service often posts medical guidance across its social media platforms, and on X this Sunday morning it encouraged the public to do "the best thing for your health". ‌

The message reads: "Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your health. When you stop, you'll experience health benefits almost immediately! It's never too late to quit." The post goes on to say that just eight hours after stopping, oxygen levels begin to recover and harmful carbon monoxide levels in the bloodstream drop by half. ‌
