LOS ANGELES — Michigan’s leaky defense reared its ugly head again on Saturday, giving up nearly 500 yards of offense to a USC team ready and willing to capitalize.
Wink Martindale’s unit had little answer for Lincoln Riley and the explosive, high-powered Trojans offense, which gashed the Wolverines through the air and on the ground in their 31-13 loss at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum .
USC tallied eight plays of 20 yards or more in the game, including a series of runs that helped blow the game open in the second half.
Afterward, head coach Sherrone Moore blamed Michigan’s defensive miscues on one fundamental issue.
