MEDINA, Ohio – Local pets will reap the benefits of the efforts of eighth graders at Claggett Middle School who participated in a Walkathon Oct. 3 to raise funds and donations for the Medina County Dog Shelter and the Medina SPCA.

“This is the third year we have had the walkathon,” said social studies teacher Tricia Shuck. “We do teaming at the middle school and this is our first team activity of the year. I volunteer at the dog shelter and so we thought it would be a good community service project. Minimum donation was a dollar or a supply or toy that can be donated to the shelter. We sent monetary donations and dog supplies and toys to the dog shelter and then any supplies or toys for cats, we donated to the Medina SPCA.
