The Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism recently announced 14 groups were awarded tourism sponsorships from Visit SoSi.

The sponsorships are a reimbursable funding mechanism to help with hosting programs and events aimed to draw more people to Southside Virginia.

“We are excited to announce this year’s tourism sponsorships and to celebrate a wide variety of festivals, outdoor competitions and unique experiences coming into our region,” Tourism Manager Lisa Meriwether said in a statement. “Through these sponsorships, a greater number of visitors are being reached and exposed to the many things to do and see in Danville and Pittsylvania County.”

Visit SoSi is — a play on the words “so” and “see” — launched in May 2023 days before a temporary casino opened in Danville.
