Amy Poehler, who left "Saturday Night Live" in 2008, returned to host Season 51's second show.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were back together again on "Saturday Night Live"!

The sketch show's cold open featured the two former "Weekend Update" anchors reuniting to spoof Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

In the sketch, Poehler's Bondi repeatedly refused to answer questions during a Senate hearing and scoffed when asked if she affirms her testimony will be true.

"I'm not going to discuss my private conversations with the president," Bondi said in the sketch. "I'm not telling you who said what, or who fell asleep in the middle of a sentence, or who kept calling me Ivanka while patting his lap."

Poehler's Bondi also insulted lawmakers by referring to "roast-style burns that I have here on this paper." When asked if the FBI found photos of President Donald Trump while raiding Jeffrey Epstein's property, she declared, "Sir, I'm not even going to dignify that question with a lie."

"I tried reading the Epstein files, but I got really bored," she added. "It's so repetitive. Trump this and Trump that. Yawn."

Fey soon entered as Noem, holding an assault rifle and proclaiming she is "the rarest type of person in Washington," that is "a brunette that Donald Trump listens to." Fey also mocked Noem's infamous story about shooting a family dog. When Sen. Richard Blumenthal (Mikey Day) said that Democrats are eager to end the government shutdown, she said, "That makes me laugh more than the end of 'Old Yeller.' "

Poehler, a "SNL" cast member from 2001 to 2008, hosted the second episode of Season 51 with musical guest Role Model.

While she and Fey were both in the building, "SNL" couldn't resist having them also reunite on "Weekend Update." The comedians participated in a "joke off" segment, in which the pair, plus fellow former "Update" anchor Seth Meyers, joined Michael Che and Colin Jost as they all competed to come up with the best punchline for a joke.

There was also a surprise "Parks and Recreation" reunion, with Aubrey Plaza joining Poehler during a sketch spoofing the Netflix show "The Hunting Wives."

Though "SNL" already celebrated its 50th anniversary with a primetime special earlier this year, Poehler's episode marked the actual 50th anniversary of the show, as the first episode of "SNL" aired on Oct. 11, 1975.

Poehler acknowledged the milestone during her monologue, joking, "You know what's nice about turning 50? You start to not care about what people think. And that's what's so great about 'SNL': She's obviously stopped caring."

Bad Bunny kicked off Season 51 of "SNL" by hosting the Oct. 4 season premiere, which featured a cold open mocking Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The sketch also spoofed the idea that Trump is monitoring "SNL" in light of Jimmy Kimmel's controversial suspension, which came after criticism from Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr.

"We are facing the greatest threat to freedom and democracy the world has ever known, and we all know what that threat is," Hegseth, played by Colin Jost, said in the sketch before Trump (James Austin Johnson) popped up and finished, "Late-night TV!" Trump then warned he was "keeping my eye" on "SNL" and "making sure they don't do anything too mean about me," lest the show have to answer to "my attack dog at the FCC."

The White House dismissed "SNL" when asked to comment on the sketch, with spokeswoman Abigail Jackson saying in an email to USA TODAY, "Reacting to this would require me to waste my time watching it. And like the millions of Americans who have tuned out from 'SNL,' I have more entertaining things to do − like watch paint dry."

Who's hosting 'SNL' next week?

"SNL" is set to return next week with Sabrina Carpenter, performing double duties as host and musical guest for the Oct. 18 episode. This will be the singer's first time serving as host.

No other hosts or musical guests for Season 51 have been announced.
