It wasn’t always like this for me. When my children were young my world was a constant whirlwind. During my parent’s visits my dad always wanted me to slow down, sit down or just stop for a few minutes. I would just laugh and tell him I was afraid I’d get run over if I ever slowed down, sat down or stopped.

When my youngest entered first grade I gave up being a stay-at-home mom and went to work full time at the university in our town. As administrator to one of the school’s deans I had a $12 million budget to manage. I can only image how much that is these days even though the deadlines probably remain the same.

That’s when I began to delegate. I soon found out just how smart my children really are. As it turned out they were not only smart, but also reliable.
