NEW ALBANY, Ind. — A southern Indiana officer is receiving praise after helping save a woman’s life.
According to the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, Officer Anthony Whelan responded to a medical emergency at Harvest Homecoming on Friday.
The woman at the scene was unconscious and unresponsive after collapsing.
FCSO said Whelan sprung into action and started CPR until EMS arrived.
The woman was transported to Baptist Floyd Hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Medical staff said Whelan’s quick action was critical in helping save the woman’s life.
Whelan was recognized for his efforts and received a Letter of Commendation from Sheriff Steve Bush.
