NORTH CAROLINA, USA — NC 12 is open on Hatteras Island but remains closed on Ocracoke Island due to ocean overwash from a Nor’easter bringing heavy winds and rain to the Outer Banks, according to NCDOT.

Travel in the area is considered dangerous. NCDOT crews are working to clear roads and restore access.
